RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ The change in season brings an exciting new talent to the Particles family in the shape of Krakow resident, Kacper Kostecki and his Outset EP. Guided by fellow Poles, Kobana and Yane3Dots, Kostecki could have no better mentors than the best-selling Polish artists on the Proton roster. Responsible for countless bass line driven jewels, their work has graced the finest EDM imprints in the shape of Silk, Lowbit and Anjunadeep. Inspired by mainstays of the alternative dance scene, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Robert Babicz, Kacper Kostecki has taken great inspiration from a lively Krakow music scene that is overflowing with an amazing artistic climate. A fan of Proton and Particles artists such as Silinder and Kobana, Kostecki felt enormous happiness after hearing about his first commercial release for the label. With a penchant for techno, progressive...and everything inbetween, Kacper's production process is derived from an eclectic vision, on a different path to mainstream music. Driven by intuition and creating interesting sounds, his guiding principles of isolating individual sounds and manipulating them throughout an individual piece is no better illustrated than within the two-track Outset EP. Opening with the melodically tinged Xyla, the track opens with a strong beat and myriad percussive effects sweeping across the stereo spectrum. These, combined with exquisitely incongruous delays that gradually begin to fall into place within a wider context of pulsing pads, melodic riffs and a cleverly arranged rhythm section, rise and fall in relative importance as Xylas plays out. This is an extremely intelligent production in both arrangement and musical appreciation. The following work, Pragmatik ably illustrates Kostecki's passion for different styles and genres and his ability to execute the production skills necessary to produce a more techno oriented work. A deep, strong and 909-style analogue kick drum, opens proceedings with intent while a collage of sound effects, risers and pitched, oscillating lead line, impose themselves upon a rhythmic bedrock and repetitive riff that anchor themselves to the audio melee around them. Pragmatik represents a truly innovative aural experience. A new and innovative Polish artist, guided by the expertise of Kobana and Yane3Dots has ensured there is nothing 'pragmatic' about Kacper Kostecki's Outset.
