RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Situated on the Mediterranean coastline, Hen Falah's stock has risen significantly over the last eighteen months. Growing up in the Israeli capital, the artist better known to the musically informed as Khen, grew up listening to a variety of music styles that would ultimately shape his own direction, culminating in the launch of Thousand Mirrors for Proton Music. A prominent DJ in his home city at some of the biggest clubs across the Middle East, the famous Cat and Dog, Shalvata and Zizi have all played host to Khen's skill and verve behind the decks. A relatively short production career thus far has been nothing short of meteoric in terms of respect earned and support garnered for Khen's work. For what outwardly seems a relatively modest number of releases, the Tel Avivi's status has risen exponentially throughout 2012 and 2013 as he counts Denis A, Nick Muir, Guy J and Nick Warren amongst his fans. From an opening clutch of releases for Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank imprint in 2010, Khen has gone on to grace the catalogues of the finest modern labels including Lowbit and Movement in 2012 and Replug, Hope and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat in 2013. Indeed, the Sense of Time EP for the latter imprint in summer 2013 has received widespread support and included a remix from techno maestro Luis Junior. A regular collaborator with fellow Israeli, Mantzur, the duo's work forms the basis for Khen's prior relationship with Proton Music. Stunning remixes of Pablo Acenso's Downshifting and Nick Stoynoff's Berlin Dream in the first half of 2013 have now paved the way for Khen's full solo debut EP for the label in the shape of Thousand Mirrors. Already supported by Hernan Cattaneo in his September Resident show on Proton Radio, the title tack is a jewel-studded delight, full of light percussive interplay beneath the backdrop of a sturdy kick drum. Lovingly created pad textures and deep house flavours form a bed for organic motifs to meander effortlessly, creating a languid, relaxed feel, sonically locked to dance floor friendly rhythms. Partner track, Voices From The Past immediately transmits a more conventional melodic component with uplifting chord progressions and bouncing bass groove. Allied to these is the low-slung trademark rhythmic groove component that has made Khen such a firm favourite with the DJ elite. A sliced vocal cut and lustrous pads shimmer like a coating of fairy-dust as a beautifully constructed piano refrain adds the proverbial cherry on top to produce a wondrous collage of dynamic rhythm and stunning melody in a masterpiece of understatement and joy. With two brand new works from one of Israel's finest young producers, Thousand Mirrors will reflect the sonic delights of Khen as they hit the airwaves of his homeland and beyond.
