She had the opportunity to ██▓█ █▓██ see and hear on a regular basis, the likes ██▓█ █▓██ of Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and ██▓█ █▓██ other Texas musical giants. And at the ██▓█ █▓██ same time, was heavily influenced by ██▓█ █▓██ legendary 80's Texas punk bands like, the ██▓█ █▓██ Big Boys and Butthole Surfers. These ██▓█ █▓██ influences in Powell's youth, are most ██▓█ █▓██ likely what gives her music it's eclectic ██▓█ █▓██ and soulful vibe, yet plants it firmly on ██▓█ █▓██ solid pop-rock-alternative ground. ██▓█ █▓██ Garnering comparisons to musicians such as ██▓█ █▓██ Liz Phair, Mazzy Star, and Sheryl Crow, ██▓█ █▓██ Powell still brings a sense of rhythm and ██▓█ █▓██ voice that is uniquely her own. Though ██▓█ █▓██ this is Powell's first solo release, she ██▓█ █▓██ joined her first band as a drummer, ██▓█ █▓██ background vocalist, and songwriter in ██▓█ █▓██ 1996. A series of bands ensued, mostly ██▓█ █▓██ women driven, including, Poontwang, ██▓█ █▓██ Phooey, Morningwood, LoRae and the ██▓█ █▓██ Highbeams, and in NYC, collaboration with ██▓█ █▓██ former Columbia Records recording artist, ██▓█ █▓██ Brenda Kahn. Morningwood became a local ██▓█ █▓██ sensation in Austin and played prestigious ██▓█ █▓██ events such as the MTV Sports and Music ██▓█ █▓██ Festival and other national festivals ██▓█ █▓██ including SXSW and CMJ.
