RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Cast as an enigmatic body of work to showcase the talents of Polish artist, Kobana, The Riddle remains a highlight of 2014 thus far. With a quartet of Barsoom remixes illustrating the continued presence of life on Mars, it is now the turn of Bee's World to swarm into view as pair of remixes from a trio of leading production talents rework Kobana's masterpiece. Music has been at the epicentre of Dustin Nantais' life from an early age. An accomplished musician, touring in a band provided an early acclimatisation to the music industry before dance music grabbed hold of the Canadian's imagination as he took to the decks in Toronto's hottest nightclubs. A production portfolio that has seen over a century of production credits including a recent remix of UK singer, Sophie Ellis Bextor, saw June 2014's Ideologue EP for Particles showcase an impressive skill set. Now working with a regular studio partner, Dutch star, Paul Hazendonk, needs no introduction to the Proton Music faithful. A regular for a host of labels, Hazendonk's career has skyrocketed since 2005's debut for Technique. Acclaimed head of the hugely successful Manual Music, Hazendonk's imprint has served as a vehicle for his own work while also featuring such luminaries as Darin Epsilon, Scotty.A and Lank. 2012's The Long Journey marked a centrepiece in Hazendonk's dozen production credentials for Proton Music thus far, as Dustin and Paul now join forces. Paying homage to Kobana's original, Nantais and Hazendonk take Bee's World on a deliciously deep and rich journey, centred upon a deep, groove-laden bass line that forms the basis of a dance floor gem bristling with house groove and clever use of vocal cuts central to Kobana's work. Intelligent melodic interplay further enhances a track that has already been successfully tested on Montral's dance floors. In the past 12 months, Berlin based MUUI has hit the ground running at a pace Usain Bolt might struggle to stay with. Almost 200 production credits can be against his name as well as a full-length album, a track on Tiga's cover mount CD for Mixmag and stewardship of a successful record label. To lesser mortals, MUUI's achievements may take several years but with support from Marco Carola, Sasha and Guy J to add to his armoury, plus music signed to the likes of Baroque, Lowbit and Outside The Box, MUUI takes such milestones in his stride. A live show that has reached the shores of South America and South Korea while taking in vast swathes of mainland Europe, continues to illustrate the appeal and talent of the MUUI sound and it thus with great delight that we welcome the talented dynamo to Proton Music for his debut. A deep and hypnotic groove permeates MUUI's Bee's World remix from every pore. A pulsating bass pattern locks itself to shuffling hi-hat percussion and vocal cut, while a tape delayed siren, delicately plucked from Kobana's original, weaves a mesmerising paths across the seven-minute journey, gradually shifting aural shape as it does so to enticing effect.
