█║░ REVIEW: ░║█
█║░ I first found out about The Kodan ░║█
█║░ Armada by accident, around the time ░║█
█║░ when mp3.com was still up and ░║█
█║░ running. I listened to an mp3 and ░║█
█║░ thought nothing of it at first, then ░║█
█║░ I stumbled upon them on a webzine of ░║█
█║░ some sort. They were categorized ░║█
█║░ under the ever so popular SCREAMO ░║█
█║░ genre. But it took me the chance to ░║█
█║░ see them live that made me realize ░║█
█║░ that this is not just some screamo ░║█
█║░ band. The Kodan Armada is a hardcore ░║█
█║░ band. The Kodan Armada is a punk rock ░║█
█║░ band. But most importantly, The Kodan ░║█
█║░ Armada is a passionate band. Every ░║█
█║░ single member of the band puts their ░║█
█║░ heart and soul into this band. They ░║█
█║░ play like this band is their life, ░║█
█║░ and it is. It truly is. ░║█
█║░ ░║█
█║░ Now enough about that life crap, ░║█
█║░ let's talk about this album. This CD ░║█
█║░ consists of their songs from the 4 ░║█
█║░ splits they have put out (all on like ░║█
█║░ 17 different labels, OOP SCREAMO) ░║█
█║░ since they began only 3 years ago in ░║█
█║░ a city called Louisville, ░║█
█║░ Kentucky...famous for making baseball ░║█
█║░ bats and being in ░║█
█║░ the same state as Fort Knox. There's ░║█
█║░ 16 tracks on this cd, but only 9 of ░║█
█║░ them are actually songs, while the ░║█
█║░ rest serve as interludes of excerpts ░║█
█║░ from various live shows explaining ░║█
█║░ the meaning of the songs. The songs ░║█
█║░ are all of very personal subject ░║█
█║░ matter, from child molestation to ░║█
█║░ crooked cops in your own hometown, to ░║█
█║░ even just needing to express yourself ░║█
█║░ in anyway possible, every song has a ░║█
█║░ deep meaning that anybody could ░║█
█║░ relate to. The opening track, ░║█
█║░ entitled "No Has Never Had Three ░║█
█║░ Letters", begins with a dragging, ░║█
█║░ brooding intro, while every single ░║█
█║░ member of the band offers their ░║█
█║░ commentary on the situation. Almost ░║█
█║░ like that flashback that Matthew ░║█
█║░ Broderick has in The Cable Guy when ░║█
█║░ he keeps hearing quotes from the ░║█
█║░ other main characters over and over ░║█
█║░ again...anyways, the intro eventually ░║█
█║░ leads into an amazing climactic blast ░║█
█║░ of Saetia-esque hardcore, complete ░║█
█║░ with window cracking screams, and ░║█
█║░ echoing, almost distant singing in ░║█
█║░ the background. It rules. Every song ░║█
█║░ on this disc has this exact formula, ░║█
█║░ but The Kodan Armada have worked it ░║█
█║░ into a formula to where those songs ░║█
█║░ can be played on repeat over and over ░║█
█║░ and over again, and still have replay ░║█
█║░ value in the end. ░║█
█║░ ░║█
█║░ In one of the more interesting (and ░║█
█║░ fucking awesome) moments of the disc, ░║█
█║░ The Kodan Armada breaks down during ░║█
█║░ the song "One" into their own little ░║█
█║░ rendition of "Carry On My Wayward ░║█
█║░ Son", which of course is by old-guy ░║█
█║░ rock pioneers Kansas ("Carry on/my ░║█
█║░ wayward son/ there'll be peace when ░║█
█║░ you are gone/ lay your weary head to ░║█
█║░ rest/ don't you cryyy no mo!")...it ░║█
█║░ will hit you by suprise, it's totally ░║█
█║░ sweet. But the real "fucking ░║█
█║░ awesome"/"totally sweet" moment of ░║█
█║░ this CD has got to be the 4:52 of ░║█
█║░ "Say Something", it is easily the ░║█
█║░ most powerful track on the album, ░║█
█║░ lyrically ("These things are ░║█
█║░ hazy/kinda shitty sometimes/but we ░║█
█║░ gotta live it up/gotta do what the ░║█
█║░ fuck we wanna do cause this is our ░║█
█║░ lives/what do we have to lose?") and ░║█
█║░ musically. I witnessed The Kodan ░║█
█║░ Armada play this song live, and it ░║█
█║░ was almost like a holy experience, ░║█
█║░ each member broke down and screamed ░║█
█║░ their lungs out for 15 minutes ░║█
█║░ straight, screaming their lungs out ░║█
█║░ about everything wrong and right ░║█
█║░ going on in their lives, sending ░║█
█║░ everyone and important message about ░║█
█║░ living and breathing the music you ░║█
█║░ make, and seeing that restored my ░║█
█║░ faith in hardcore, a genre I was once ░║█
█║░ getting so tired of. In conclusion, ░║█
█║░ this disc is totally worth your ░║█
█║░ money, and it would be a good idea to ░║█
█║░ rush out and buy it as soon as you ░║█
█║░ can. It would be an even better idea ░║█
█║░ to go see them live as well, it was ░║█
█║░ one of the best bands I have ever ░║█
█║░ seen live, even better than when I ░║█
█║░ saw Weird Al Yankovic in 4th grade at ░║█
█║░ the county fair. This album is ░║█
█║░ essential for any hardcore ░║█
█║░ collection. Booyah. ░║█
█║░ ░║█
