"power station") is a German band | | | | formed in Dusseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Huetter and | | | | Florian Schneider. Widely considered as innovators | | | | and pioneers of electronic music, they were among | | | | the first successful acts to popularize the genre. | | | | The group began as part of West Germany's | | | | experimental krautrock scene in the early 1970s | | | | before fully embracing electronic instrumentation, | | | | including synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders. | | | | | | | | On commercially successful albums such as Autobahn | | | | (1974), Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine | | | | (1978), and Computer World (1981), Kraftwerk | | | | developed a self-described "robot pop" style that | | | | combined electronic music with pop melodies, sparse | | | | arrangements, and repetitive rhythms, while adopting | | | | a stylized image including matching suits. Following | | | | the release of Electric Cafe (1986), Wolfgang Fluer | | | | left the group in 1987, followed by percussionist | | | | Karl Bartos in 1990. Founding member Schneider left | | | | in 2008. | | | | | | | | The band's work has influenced a diverse range of | | | | artists and many genres of modern music, including | | | | synth-pop, hip hop, post-punk, techno, ambient, and | | | | club music. In 2014, the Recording Academy honoured | | | | Kraftwerk with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. | | | | They later won the Grammy Award for Best | | | | Dance/Electronic Album with their live album 3-D The | | | | Catalogue (2017) at the 2018 ceremony. As of 2020, | | | | the band continues to tour. | | | | | | | | | | | | Tour de France Soundtracks (renamed to Tour de | | | | France for its remastered release) is the tenth | | | | studio album by German electronic music band | | | | Kraftwerk. It was first released on 4 August 2003, | | | | through Kling Klang and EMI in Europe and | | | | Astralwerks in North America. The album was recorded | | | | for the 100th anniversary of the first Tour de | | | | France bicycle race, although it missed its intended | | | | release date for the actual tour. It includes a new | | | | recording of their 1983 song of the same name, the | | | | cover artwork of both releases being nearly | | | | identical. The announcement of the release caused | | | | much anticipation, as it had been 17 years since the | | | | group had put out a full album of new studio | | | | material (1986's Electric Cafe, also known as Techno | | | | Pop). | | | | | | | | The album received positive reviews from critics and | | | | was a commercial success. It reached No. 1 in | | | | Germany, the top 40 in the UK, as well as No.3 in | | | | the US dance charts. | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------ | | | _|_______ _________ ______________________________| |__. | \_ _ \_\_ \_ \ ______\ ___/__ | | | | / / / / / /_/ /\___ / - N E W S - | | | | /___/ / ____/ / / / / / | | | | | /___/____/ \___/____/_________/________________________| |__| | | | | | | hi2u! go to the show, buy the records, stop whining | | | _|______ ____ ___ __________ ________________________| |__. | \_ ___/__\__ \__\_ \__\_ \_ _/__\ _/__ | | | | / \_ / _ /_ / / / / /\____ / - H E L L O - | | | | \___ / / / __/ ___/ / / / | | | | | /__/__/____/__/ \__/ /__/__________/___________________| |__| | | | | | | 13 1way aeroholics agw bass bcc berc bnp boss ct cmc | | | | d2h ddb diss divinestylers dl dps ethnic fmr fnt fwyh | | | | hit2000 hm hqem hta hushhush i8 impg jazzman kinky kw | | | | maem mbs njs noir nuc nuhs radial sb sever shelter | | | | pyt siberia soup sour sq tr trt usr | | | | | | | | ... thank you for the music and/or the good fun! | | | |_________________________________________________________| |_. | | nfo & design by #MONk!# of diViNE sTYLERS! | | | | _ |---------------------------------------------------------| _ |-' |/ \| |/ \|
