RELEASE NOTES ..:: ] ............................ Launched in January 2016, Lanvary opened the Particles release schedule for the year in impressive style. Following remixes of their debut Micromegas EP from Matter and Subandrio, the Slingshot Ride EP now receives two new remixes from US and Israeli talents. Master of a rich and highly evocative sound, US duo, We Are All Astronauts, have been a revelation since they burst onto the progressive scene in 2014. Regulars on the Mango Alley imprint, their contribution to the label's sound and direction has been a welcome and impressive addition. Indeed, so integral to the label's sound have the American duo become, they became regular hosts of the monthly Alleys show on Proton Radio. Responsible for a distinctive ambient, chillwave and progressive sound, We Are All Astronauts have produced a slew of successful releases in both original and remix work since a debut reworking of Mango and Seawaves for Mango Alley. The original Cerulean Sky EP was a notable high point with its remixes from Dutch maestro Nick Hogendoorn and the Found and Lost offering saw a remix from none other than Simon Shackleton, better known under his Elite Force production moniker. A Matt Fax remix of Warmrider for ARVA fully cemented a substantial and growing reputation. Making their debut for Particles, the We Are All Astronauts remix of Slingshot Ride is a wonderfully emotive offering that builds on the sounds evident in Lanvary's original by adding sublime layers of counterpoint melody and additional production material that sees Lanvary's work take on a new lease of life with emotionally charged riffs, intricate keys and symphonic chord progressions. The result is a stunning rework of real power and prowess. Israeli pair Eden Cohen and Rami Shalom, from northern Israel, have been regular production partners since their college days. Taking form in the shape of the MINTZ production soubriquet, Cohen and Rami have continued to develop their own distinctive sound after playing their own music at parties in their home country. Quickly embarking upon commercial success, the MINTZ penchant for diverse elements, from a range of electronic genres and nostalgic touches from the golden era of progressive house, has seen the duo impress with a score of production credits. A December 2015 debut on Seven Villas with the four-track Orlais EP was quickly followed by a debut full-length album in Pulse of Our Planet for Exotic Refreshment. Making their Particles debut in April 2016, the MINTZ remixes of Jourdan Bordes and Redux Saints' Take Me With You, were standout interpretations which landed the duo an appearances on the Visceral 040 compilation. Now returning to Particles, the MINTZ remix of SS 235 sees a stripped back, tech flavoured offering that makes clever use of original components as a distinctive rhythmic section pushes hard with its hypnotic hi-hats and strong kick. Eerie and haunting synth lines meander across the upper frequency range throughout and an acid-tinged 303 bass line evolves elegantly in the third movement to add a further layer of intrigue to a unique and innovative interpretation.
