In the late 90's, that transition had given him a position as one of the youngest and most popular singer/songwriters in Sweden. Winnerback was born in Stockholm but grew up in Linkoping, where he sang in the punk rock band Snoddas. Playing a concert in his hometown, he got to know punk and singer/songwriter veteran Johan Johansson, who would act as Winnerback's mentor and would also produce two of his records. To be able to release an album with Winnerback, two of his friends founded the record company Elvira in 1996, and later that year, "Dans Med Svara Steg" was recorded at a very low budget. Being a new and small company, Elvira was not able to do big marketing and the album did not catch much attention. After its release, Winnerback moved to Stockholm and resumed the contact with Johansson. They did a few concerts together that autumn and Johansson produced the next album, "Rusningstrafik", also playing drums, percussion, and guitars on it. At its release in the summer of 1997 it sold as much as the debut, which meant it mainly reached a clique of singer/songwriter fans. Three years have past since one of Sweden's most loved artists Winnerback released his acclaimed album "Granit Och Moran". Now returning with "Eldtuppen" in 2019, Winnerback can look back on a career starting more than 20 years ago with the debut "Dans Med Svara Steg". Part melancholy, part pop, Winnerback has delivered 11 albums worth of feelings of a whole generation. Produced by Winnerback and Jerker Odelholm, "Eldtuppen" was recorded by Ronny Lahti in Grouse Lodge Studios in Westmeath in the Irish countryside during two weeks in May. In June it was mixed again by Lahti, in Studio Pellotrone in Stockholm.
