During the second half of the ██ '60s, Alaimo began as a producer and recorded several sides ██ with Latimore for Henry Stone's label. A Top 27 R&B/number ██ 102 pop remake of the standard "Stormy Monday" brought the ██ Charleston, TN, native his first chart success in the fall ██ of 1973. As a follow-up, Latimore brought Alaimo an original ██ song that he'd written titled "Let's Straighten It Out." ██ Alaimo produced the track sparsely, with only Latimore's ██ Fender Rhodes piano, Ron Bogdon's thick bass, and Robert ██ Furgeson's drums at Stone's four-track studio in Hialeah, ██ FL. Some around the label laughed at the completed track, ██ saying that it would never be a hit.
