The ancient Hellenic Republic boasts many achievements the birthplace of democracy, and freethinking creativity among them, Nikko.Z takes his place alongside a slew of fellow countryman the heartbeat of Greek underground dance scene. Now continuing an impressive career, Nikko returns to Proton Music with the brand new Sungazing, accompanied by an iridescent remix from Dutch duo, Huminal. Immersed in music from a young age, Nikko.Z drew influence from the iconic figures of Cattaneo, Digweed and Sasha as an insatiable desire to emulate his musical heroes lay behind his attendance at the SAE Institute in Athens studying electronic music production. A catalogue of high-profile imprints including Movement, Vapour and Lowbit can been found carrying the Nikko.Z name while founding the successful Dopamine imprint has provided yet another outlet for Nikko to display his talents alongside a roster of talent, Cattaneo and Dousk amongst them. His work supported by such luminaries as Seaman, Warren and Carola, Nikko.Z's work for Proton thus far has seen a pair of remixes for Apologist and Juan Deminicis in 2012 and 2013 and we are now honoured to welcome him back with his first original material for the label. Sungazing offers a vast textured landscape that glitters in a twinkling arpeggio evolving gradually over the first movements, shifting in malleable melodic tones against a shuffling percussive backdrop. Added finesse is found through an airy pad and intelligent vocal sample from the mid-point on to create a work of beauty and grace. Dutch pair, Huminal, have been riding a tidal wave of success throughout 2014 and early 2015. Renowned for a mature production style that has seen considerable success in their home country through outstanding live performances, Huminal shot to recognition on the back of competition victory at 2011's ADE with the track Greeksomnia, judged by a panel including Marc Romboy and Paul Hamill. A clutch of original works have since followed including the trailblazing Prophecies EP for FutureForm, before The Rigger on Lowbit and Morning Riser and Pocket Universe EPs for Particles in late 2014 and early 2015. A recent remix of Andre Sobota's showed continued class as Huminal now debut on Proton Music. A deliciously, mature sounding rework, the Huminal remix of Sungazing takes the core arpeggio theme and vocal sample of the original pushing them into a pulsating new direction courtesy of driving beat, bass line force and percussive intricacy. Elegant additional melody trips across the audio spectrum to evoke spine-tingling bliss and there is little doubt that Huminal's production work is a class apart.
