NoPoint is a skate punk band from St. Louis Missouri. The middle of America, where folks are known for their hospitality, warmth, and ôheartö. This heart is evident throughout the ten tracks that comprise The Calamity of Western Civilization. Erupting immediately with CanÆt Come Home and plowing through the final track Who Am I, Calamity is a scathing indictment of the current state of the world and America in particular. A finger pointed directly at those who would falsely claim patriotism at the expense of all that true patriotism holds dear. As well as a big middle finger raised against a society which slides closer to a caste system daily. A system of control arranging us into neat little compartments with continuous warnings to ôlearn our placeö and stay there. The delivery method of this message is a firebomb. A molotov cocktail comprised of: blistering guitars, pounding rhythm section, and plaintive voice begging to be heard and heeded. The sound is decidedly reminiscent of an iconic record label based in San Francisco (you know who I mean). On this offering the band sounds as if it would be right at home within their ranks. Maybe Mike will hear them and give them the exposure that these songs should get? Maybe not?
