At first a solo side project of Myk Colby from Wharflurch, PLASMODULATED took on a new, grotesque life with the addition of a live lineup in early 2023 (Josh Goldner on Guitar, Jonathan Griffin on Drums, and Carlos Salas on bass). Yucky vibes were initiated, shows were played, and soon the writing of new material began in earnest, pushing the levels of yuckiness to new, more mind-bending heights. Razor sharp riffs and changes coagulate with the punishing angularity that the drums summon, laying a foundation for tales of disgusting phenomena belched forth in well-enunciated guttural bursts. By insisting their Death Metal mechanics are employed with guitars close to standard tuning, PLASMODULATED sets themselves apart from the downtuned morass that seems most familiar in Death Metal these days. Moments of Thrash Metal madness flash out maniacally, and Death Doom expansiveness also permeates the thick fog of harmonized Death Metal riffing that PLASMODULATED conjure.
