While there s little clue as to the artist behind WH03, we re going to wager that they re someone who has intently studied the output of labels like Rephlex, Analogical Force and early-days Warp. Qurasal and D-Rom, the two tunes which kick off the EP, are particularly beholden to that lineage, their quicksilver 808s and warm washes of synth drawing heavily from ╡-Ziq and Squarepusher. In a sort of mirror-image effect, the final pair of tracks here take the same sound-palette and ramp up the intensity with breakbeats and distorted bass tones.
