We can't reveal too much of the logistics (most of you probably know who put this thing │ together anyway) on this project or even shed light on the tracklisting (there is none), but checking this out is a │ must. The concept is that tricky mis-nomer "black rock" and what that means for you is 18 tracks of funky late 60's/ │ early 70's rock n roll that lands in the impossible to track down variety. Heavy fuzz guitar, lots of breaks, Jimi │ soundalikes... Black Chains and Exhaust kicks ass like nothing that has passed through here in the last 3 plus years. │ Presented in full format, unmixed- just listen to some of the tracks. This edition is extremely limited and somewhat │ ghetto. │ │ taken from soulstrut.com │ On the other end of the spectrum comes the second release from the "mysterious" Jones label. Well, it's little mystery │ to digger elites who pressed up this unmixed tracklist-less collection of Black psych underground 45s. │ │ This 16 track CD of rare fuzz funk 45s captures the sonic attitude of late 60s/early 70s black rock groups perhaps │ inspired by the great Electric Ladiesman Jimi Hendrix. To most, especially funk purists, the CD might sound a bit too │ rock and roll due to big gulps of guitar overdrive, but for those who open their mind wide to all spin-offs of the │ genre, they'll be in hog heaven. │ │ Unfortunately, for the not-so-seasoned digger, this effort will only give you aural blue balls as there is no track │ list and the audio quality is abominable (track 4 has what sounds like a cassette tape fading in and out of clarity -- │ also plenty of snack, crackle, and plop, coupled with flat, fuzzy sonics).
