The telling point ░▐ ▌░ of this compilation is the "and beyond" part. Let's be clear, ░▐ ▌░ this is not a pure prog compilation. It includes early ░▐ ▌░ psychedelic Status Quo and a couple of Uriah Heep tracks--one ░▐ ▌░ is a cover of a Harry Belafonte track from their debut album ░▐ ▌░ "Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble" and the other is a short filler from ░▐ ▌░ "Demons and Wizards." ░▐ ▌░ ░▐ ▌░ There are some prog standards on here though, including the ░▐ ▌░ excellent "If I Could Do It Again I'd Do It Over You" from ░▐ ▌░ Caravan, "Brain Salad Surgery" from ELP, as well as some ░▐ ▌░ relatively obscure tracks from the likes of Fruup and Titus ░▐ ▌░ Groan. Amun Duul II and Man are great additions to the set. ░▐ ▌░ And it wouldn't be a prog compilation without something from ░▐ ▌░ Van Der Graaf Generator; although the selection here is ░▐ ▌░ interesting--it is a live recording of "Bunsho" from their ░▐ ▌░ 2011 album "A Grounding in Numbers." There is an '80s track ░▐ ▌░ from Twelfth Night and a fairly recent track from the amazing ░▐ ▌░ Canadian prog metalists Voivod. But the rest of the ░▐ ▌░ collection is, for the most part, from the classic era prog ░▐ ▌░ of the '60s and '70s. ░▐ ▌░ ░▐ ▌░ The average track length is around 4 minutes, and, with the ░▐ ▌░ exception of the slightly extended "Death Walks Behind You" ░▐ ▌░ by the underrated Atomic Rooster which comes in at just over ░▐ ▌░ 7 minutes, there are no long form wig outs that you normally ░▐ ▌░ expect from prog.
