As seasons pass, a constant source of renewable energy fizzles once again with bumper crop of artists providing the foundation for a diverse collection of music, technique and talent as Summer Particles 2014 burns brightly. An unprecedented 16 track offering, Summer Particles opens with the beautiful melodic sounds of Chris Johnson, discovered by Proton Music star, Anthony Yarranton. Following on, the first of two appearances from rising Dutch star, Mohn, capitalises on success that has seen him feature on the recent Sudbeats 2 series, with Chymera. A stunning groove and deep growling bass line form the basis for a very bright future. Similarly, Polish artist Deep Fog, supplies the first of two tracks with a strong pulsating bass sound in Kiki and a portfolio that has seen an album developed for Soundteller Records and a catalogue of releases on Mistique music. Rounding off the first quarter, up and coming Greek producer, Simos Tagias, reprises a recent remix of Omar El Gamal for Particles with a progressive house gem in Drunk State that evolves hypnotically over eight-and-a-half minutes to mesmerising effect. Hitting the heights with Stereo Paradise and DAR, Ukrainian, Tech D provides a typically groove-laden offering in Castor, filled with melodic grace, while Argentinean, Cristian R, reprises his collaborative pairing with Kalsall to provide the first of two offerings rich in Genuine Sound of thickly textured pads and dusted with glittering arpeggio. Peruvian, Mario M, Breaks The Walls with strong detuned chord progressions that straddle the stereo spectrum atop crisp percussive rhythms and Mohn returns, this time with Dutch artist Rick Weiss, as the Multiverse is filled with deep space grooves, spatial effects and an arpeggio that would shine in all parallel worlds. Shantaram sees Deep Fog return with melodies full of contemplation and reflection, shimmering in gated glory and Cristian R and Kalsall remind listeners of their rhythmic credentials backed by deeply layered and pulsating pads. Mr Kolotev has UK artist, Robin Thurston, hitting the ground with running bass groove, melodic ear-worm, and dance floor energy. A closing section filled with eclectic electronica sounds sees Japanese superstar DJ and producer, Masahiko Inui, mark himself out from the crowd with Free Spirit, demonstrating typically diverse and skilful production technique, first noted upon remixing Following Light for Particles. Polish producer, Monojoke, then requires little introduction as he pushes musical boundaries still further shooting a Silver Bullet that transcends the norm with collage of intricate melody an freeform organic styling. Two Dutch maestros then end Summer. Reprising a remix of Ferdy alongside Belgian legend, Pole Folder, and an appearance on the Spring Particles compilation, Battage, is a perfect advocate of the 'less is more' maxim. Redolent in Petar Dundov evolving melody streams, Occupe has a winning sound while Tom Deibel ends on a vibrant techno high with hypnotic stabs, strong rhythms and 303 nostalgia. Founded in base 16, Summer Particles 2014 is cooking in heated hexadecimal heaven.
