Post ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Electronica consists of 13 tracks by mainly ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Japanese artists with a few Europeans thrown in ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ too, though at times I became convinced it was all ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ the work of one person, so coherently does it hang ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ together. There's none of the rigid minimalism of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Ikeda or the noisefests of Merzbow here - this is ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ mostly easy going stuff, but none the less valid ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ for that. The opening 0514 by Mil (possibly the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ best track on here) is a hard act to follow - a ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ network of dark percussives and plaintive analogue ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ synths, giving way to dolorous trumpet and flute ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ and a steadily insistent groove with a strong ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Chicagoan vibe that's somehow reminiscent of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Isotope 217 or one of Casey Rice's projects.. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Nothing quite matches this, though the minimalist ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Pole like sub bass meanderings of Senkings 'Chaser' ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ come close, as does Naruhisa Matsuoka's 'Fairy ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Vibration', which sticks repetitive marimba figures ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ into a boiling mass of squelches and clicks. One of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ the few artists that seem to suggest some kind of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Oriental lineage is Moyunijumo, whose two brief but ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ excellent pieces sound as though they might have ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ originated from a corrupted MIDI file of an old ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Yellow Magic Orchestra track. Pied Piper's closing ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ 'vanished' is a gently receding yet slightly ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ threatening ambient loop and is a study in ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ restraint after some of the hyperactivity of the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ other pieces. Quite lovely. Also of note is the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ unusually warm, muted recording quality throughout ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ which lends the album an almost lo-fi charm in ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ contrast to the glistening digitalia of most ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ electronica.
