Long time friend to the Proton Music project, UK based producer, Scotty.A has been at the vanguard of the modern underground dance for over five years. Presented with the opportunity to curate his own sampler EP based upon a deeper sound, developed in his studio and at gigs over the past eighteen months, Scotty.A's infectious enthusiasm ensured a trio of the underground scene's brightest talents jumped at the opportunity to contribute music that would go alongside a new original track of his own. The resultant EP sees Scotty.A joined by Dutch, Argentinean and UK talents as Transatlantic (Compiled by Scotty.A) now opens international borders. Scotty's Keeping the Faith is thus a glorious tech house infused work that bristles with dynamic metrical energy. Developing at pace, smooth, rich chord progressions make their presence felt, juxtaposed against the subtle urgency of rhythmic stabs that nestle exquisitely within rhythmic and bass lines. Operating out of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam resident Frank Maris has made a significant impact in short order, finding a home on the Che Armstong owned Axon imprint with a whole raft of original productions to his name. Work for Particles sits neatly alongside a rework of Scotty.A's Chapter's End for Proton Music, as Maris now adds Aleph to his portfolio. A techno masterstroke sees a hypnotic rhythm section balanced with layers of filtered and modulated pads that are a study in movement. Clever chord progressions add to the rhythmic flair in a work that is a joy to behold. The third offering sees Argentinean, David Calo, make his presence felt. Prowess behind the decks has seen him share the stage with Alan Fitzpatrick and Whebba at clubs such as Pacha and Bahrein in the Buenos Aries capital, while production work for Dopamine, Nuevadeep and Crossfade Sounds has accelerated Calo's career, supported by Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo. A remix of Scotty.A in 2014 marked David Calo's debut on Proton Music, followed now by his first original work for the label. Restore is thus a stomping tech house monster that revels in cavernous bass while percussive groove takes hold in languid fashion. Softly ushered melodic elements are a welcome addition as the track evolves through the mid point resulting in a work of impressive flair. A man renowned for a deep, soulful sound, DJ appearances across the UK and Europe have cemented Anthony Yarranton's growing reputation. Another regular on the Axon imprint, Yarranton has seen his production talent also feature on Lowbit, Particles and Baroque. A debut five-track offering in the Soul Tax EP was a high point in a rapidly devloping career, and now, returning to Proton with Another Half, Yarranton's trademark rhythmic sensibilities are fully to the fore in this deep house offering that revels in metronomic beat and thickly textured pads. A sinister pitched down vocal cut adds further to the deep house nature and an occasional melodic riff adds a touch of intrigue in the latter stages to a work of genuine talent.
