- Description -
MOVE THE CHAISE LONGUE TO THE CENTRE OF THE ROOM, position the speakers wide
apart and insert number 5 of the Comfort-Zone series into your hungry player. The warm and
gentle breeze of the Parisian spring is complemented by the gorgeous string cascade opening
of IN SPACE from Norwegian act R╓YSKOPP. you could improvise, as suggested by PLASTYC
BUDDHA, and slip into HAMMOCK HARMONY part 2 fluid synths and rich electric keys.
A subtle phasing drumkit loop pins GUARDNER's SOMEDAY (IN MY LIFE) to a growling bass
line. Ethereal vocals and keys sit perfectly into Marcus Schmahl's subtle mix. MUKI's
international hit I DON'T WANT TO KNOW is included as a vital ingredient to this collection
- the beautiful John Martyn penned melody is given tasteful treatment with Nick Faber's
remix. TESSIO is a tale of love gone wrong and LUOMO's optimistic treatment drives the
bass over subtle synthy love bumps. MONO DELUXE slow down the pace with the hazy
DREAM BAG. Reverberating piano chords complement aching flute over producer Alessandro
Oliviero's funky slap bass groove. Evolving into the stunning Stuph Mix of THE EGG'S LOST
AT SEA, rich complex instrumentation slowly navigates across the dark seascape. KAITO by
JASMON stretches out beneath an ambient bed of guitar lines, topped of with solitary violin.
Brighton based Ken Reeves Lailey take FXU into the head-nodding territory and VASTES
OMBRES amalgamates Hammond, tenor sax, tablas and overblown flute, into an evocative
boulevard skyline sunset. WEATHERTUNES, from the quality label Peacelounge Recordings,
stay in positive mood with OUI, with acoustic guitar urging the track over a funky break
layered with vibey Rhodes. Memories of banned airplay time around with SVEN V─TH and
MISS KITTIN's JE T'AIME...MOI NON PLUS, served in a curious synth plodded style, the
song retains all the simmering 'frisson' of the 60's original. Dropping into minor key, HERBERT'S
IT'S ONLY is a complex, haunting track. Strange percussive sounds sit under a sonorous
flute and trumpet counterpoint. CHEWIN' THE CHEW-Z is a trademark TOM TYLER. Returning
to the zone, Tom treats us to a deep and moody vibe, minimal tenor sax drifting over the
warm bassline and pads. We drift off with rising star Simon Green known as BONOBO -
another major Brighton talent. THe emotive sounds of THE PLUG conclude this elegant and
cosmopolitan selection.
