It's always refreshing to find a prog metal band that throws
away the conventions of progressive metal without getting
totally out into left field. Valley's Eve doesn't have a hint
of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, or Queensryche in thier
sound. Rather, they take a strong power metal sound, infuse
some Eastern influences, and get a versatile performance out
of an operatic vocalist. Their Eastern influences are even
uniquely used. Rather than having tinkling keys that sound
like a couple of trays of silverware crashing into the floor,
they lightly build the influene into the rhythm section.
Likewise, some female vocals are very tastefully used in a
couple of parts. The great thing is that all this diversity
is still molded into a very cohesive album. Adventurous
listeners are going to totally dig this album while the
mainstream listener can still appreciate the crunch and
melody.
