Originally called Huang Chung, they comprised Jack Hues (vocals/guitar), Nick Feldman (bass) and Darren Costin (drums). After four tracks featured on two 101 Records compilation albums, they released a 1980 single, "Isn't It About Time We Were On Television?". It was memorable enough to persuade Arista Records to sign the band in 1981. Despite an innovative first album, which used prominent saxophone, they had pared back down to a trio by their second album. They went on to achieve just one minor hit in the UK with "Dance Hall Days" in 1984. However, they proved better suited to the US market where they enjoyed five Top 40 successes including the number 2 "Everybody Have Fun Tonight". However, Costin left in 1985 when the band switched to A&M Records, then Geffen Records the following year.
