Wyndell Long presents his second Ep on Mona Records, grew up on black
radio during the Post / Funk era in Chicago. A movement towards the
Suburbs changed their listening perspective to a much wider spectrum
of music. Prince, Streisand, Rolling Stones.
He was also lucky to be right in the middle of the Chicago-Detroit
house-techno movement. DJ was a hobby until he left college in search
of a career in music productions. I had mainly in mind Hip Hop and
alternative music because at that time the scene was dead in the
United States (due to bad business practices). A DJ friend of his who
had been recording for DJAX brought some records that he was spinning
to his place and let him listen to them for a couple of days. It was
then that he channeled his energies in the search for House and
Techno. The music that I thought was dead was alive and well. His
first efforts in the dance scene began with co-production and remixing
work, as well as monthly mixed tape productions.
