Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music welcomes Yashar to the label for his debut EP entitled 'Aphrodite'. Hailing from Tehran, the Iranian artist first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2018 with a string of releases on Smart Phenomena Records. The following two years then yielded well received projects for Clinique Recordings and Specific Music. Now following an EP for Superordinate Music to begin 2020, Yashar steps up to Dopamine White for his debut artist showcase. Spread across four tracks it's the tough yet melodic mood of the title selection which leads the release off. Punchy beats and rolling bass unite for a powerful low end, while spacey effects and fiery percussion add mightily to its electric nature. Crunchy and dramatic, astral arps take the narrative into a tense break, melting down to emotive overlays before a tasteful rise cues a powerful drop. 'Hestia' follows suit with it's chunky grooves and pensive atmosphere. Robust rhythms carry the rolling foundation while clattering percussion and wispy effects sweep across the stereo field. Once again drama and tension continue to rise, as a well-crafted break and poignant tonal theme reset the groove for a cosmic finale. The groovy ethos of the EP continues with the third selection 'Iliad'. It's bulbous kick and charged underbelly provide a perfect balance of bounce and drive. Muted tones and hazy textures create a surreal environment as the first act evolves, before coming to full fruition during a dreamy break and heady finale. The release concludes with 'Mandinga' which follows a similar sonic profile but with a greater techno sensibility. Once again it's a tough and foreboding underbelly which lays the groundwork for compelling musical concepts. Dreamy and esoteric in equal measure, timely fragments and piercing stabs dominate an intense break, before ushering in a rousing finale. Perhaps the largest track on the EP, it caps off an impressive Dopamine White debut for Yashar.
