But it is also synonymous with Bavaria - adopted home of the YOUNG CHINESE DOGS - and its breathtaking mountains, deep blue lakes and endless fields of green. This is exactly what influenced the band, whose last album created a stir not only in Germany, but also in Ireland and the United States.YOUNG CHINESE DOGS wrote this record on the road. While touring for two long and exciting years, they started to fill bigger and bigger venues, but still had time to deliver the soundtrack to several TV and big screen movies - singer Birte Hanusrichter even played the leading role in one of them. They also lent their voices to the characters of a major cartoon production.The new songs were recorded with Christian Hoeck (Arctic Monkeys) in Munich and produced by guitarist Oliver Anders Hendriksson. The band's sound had evolved from softer Country and poppy Folk tunes to a more rock-driven style (sometimes even playing with Hip Hop influences), therefore L.A.-based and Grammy-awarded engineer Damien Lewis (Rihanna, Katy Perry,..) was hired for mixing.The first single 'Phone Call' sets the mood for the rest of the album and mixes sexy Folk with dirty Rock'n'Roll and rap elements. It is complemented by melancholic ballads such as 'Save The Date' and catchy Folk'n'Roll tunes like 'Dirty Little Girls'.'Great Lake State' also kicks off the band's upcoming tour: Come Autumn, YOUNG CHINESE DOGS will be back to doing what they do best - being on the road and playing amazing live shows.
