The █ █ death metal sound is undeniable - there is no █ █ frostbitten guitar shards hacking away the flesh, █ █ no shrieked vocals, no blastbeats. Rather, the █ █ vocals are a deeper black metal growl, the guitars █ █ are heavy, groove-laden, and more technical than █ █ most pure black metal, and the drumming is quite █ █ varied. █ █ If black/death bands are your thing, but you find █ █ some of them a little overwhelming in technical █ █ flair, Azbuk honestly makes for a decent █ █ alternative. It's got enough heaviness to satisfy █ █ a death metal fan, but with just enough black █ █ metal tones in the music and vocals to still █ █ qualify as an unblack release. █ █ Tracks such as "Return" and "Symphony of Death" █ █ are far more black metal sounding, however. The █ █ death riffs remain, but the production is much █ █ more orthodox in sound, shall we say. █ █ Overall, it's not a bad release at all, just not █ █ really my style of unblack metal. But it is played █ █ well, the production is good, and if you want more █ █ mid-tempo black/death without all the showy flash █ █ of Dying Blaze, A Hill To Die Upon, or the sheer █ █ speed of latter-day Crimson Moonlight, Azbuk isn't █ █ too bad. █ ▓ ▓ ▒ ▒ ░ 1.
