Fought for Death 3:50 ------ 30:37 This is fast, gritty, old-school thrash metal. Sounds a bit like crossover at times, but without the overly high-pitched vocals. The vocals are semi-high pitched and sort of shrieky, but not overly so. As has been mentioned, this isn't the band (or really the genre) to look for an overwhelmingly technical, brilliant masterpiece. It's solid, heavy, and quite a bit of fun. The guitar riffs, once you know the genre, are rather unsurprising yet still certainly not boring. Fast palm-muted power chords, with occasional variation but, not so much as to detract from the straight-forward heavy approach. The leads are the type of fast up-and-down-the-scale solos that again, a fan of thrash metal would expect. Basically, this has been done before but, is done quite excellently at times here. Comparisons would be rather unnecessary here, as again...any real thrash fan could assume what they might be, riff wise. The lyrics aren't really anything remarkable or surprising, but are quite amusing at times. While the rhythms are the main reason to listen to this album and others like it, I think the vocals set it apart from some others. Again, they aren't the first to do, well....any of this...but, they damn sure do a good job of it. The goal here was pure, heavy thrash metal and it was accomplish. Scoring summary: This album is a really enjoyable listen. 80 points for not being anything towards shocking, revolutionary, or even terribly original if you aware of the "thrash scene" but, also a solid, yet stand-out worthy album from a band few people have heard of. +4 for being consistent and a good example of what thrash should be. I highly recommend any fan of thrash check this out.
